BEE
Black Economic Empowerment (BEE)
At Dawn Wing black economic empowerment (BEE) is embraced as a value creating strategy, designed to create realistic, meaningful and enduring and sustainable partnerships with those previously denied them.
Dawn Wing’s BEE Strategy is thus a value creation driven strategy as this is the strongest possible motivation in a value-based company and we believe the only truly sustainable reason for implementing a BEE strategy.
Our BEE strategy remains focused on: capacity building, job creation and economic growth. There are seven main focus areas:
Equity Participation/Shareholding
Previously disadvantaged individuals currently hold a small percentage of the Laser Group’s equity. Further to this, Dawn Wing is exploring opportunities for investment with other black empowerment partners. We are also devising options to ensure broader equity participation within the company including the creation of a share trust benefiting previously disadvantaged individuals.
Management Development Programme
Identify, train and develop employees who have management/entrepreneurial potential as part of a succession-planning program for BEE.
Learnerships
Committed to identifying, training and developing Learnership Programs for individuals who have potential to be part of a Learnership Program and upon successful completion, to be employed by Dawn Wing.
Supplier Participation
Outsource to suppliers that are, either black owned or black empowered and encourage our suppliers to participate and support BEE and Social Responsibility initiatives.
Social Responsibility/Local Upliftment
Identify, create and build a relationship with local Social Upliftment requirements. Start supporting and contributing to this local Upliftment program and it’s initiatives within the first quarter of 2006.
Collaboration
Building relationships with black owned/empowered SME’s, and support their business initiatives.
Customer Involvement
Encourage our customers to participate and support our BEE and Social Responsibility initiatives.
Employees enjoy an integrated yet rigorous programme of capacity building with long-term sustainability. Policies and procedures have been documented, approved and implemented to ensure this.
In selecting business partners and suppliers, Dawn Wing gives preference to those who comply with the criterion as set out in the Broad Based BEE “Codes of Good Practice”. Ideally, shareholders will be taking an active part in the running of the business and ensuring that there is a transfer of skills to black employees. Where possible, preference is given to companies that satisfy the above criteria and are also Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMEs).
Dawn Wing will seek to ensure that its BEE Strategy and implementation thereof is a genuine commitment and value adding process for all parties concerned.
